Rebecca Muir, the lead singer, born in 1982, has a phenomonal voice that shows development way past her years. Her powerful, soulful style lays deceivingly well over the unlikely combination of Fair Kero's music and style.
Joel Marsh, the self-taught drummer, has been playing since 1997 and has already incorporated odd time signatures, latin rhythms and very complex concepts into his playing, which helps shape the Fair Kero sound into what it is.
Steve Campbell, who is also self-taught, has played bass since 1997 as well, and has progressed into one of the most solid bass players in Halifax. Together with Joel, they form a rhythm section that isn't afraid to attempt anything.
Shawn Holland is one of those "why can't I be that good" stories. After basically sitting in his room for 2 years, he joined Fair Kero and displayed his amazing ability for acoustic picking and styles. Originally a blues wizard, he has also taught himself flamenco and classical music and techniques.
Ken Roberts shows what every guitar teacher wants to see in their students. Solid, proficient, and a quick learner, Ken has the sacred skill of the hook. He naturally picked up the ability to right amazing hooks, and has an unusual affinity for ethnic scales and textures.
Finally, in March of 1999 Jeff Torbert re-met Rebecca at a 30-hour famine, and realized that the band he was looking for was Fair Kero. After joining the band and adding his prodigal piano abilities, award-winning songwriting, and his love of special effects, FK was complete.
During their time together, Fair Kero has won a provincial battle of the bands in Nova Scotia, played on television twice, been featured on a high school compilation CD, and released an EP of their own.
People in the industry throughout North America agree that Fair Kero has so much potential it hurts, and that they show maturity above and beyond their ages.
